Best Mods for a late V6 S
Discussion
Graham,
I've just increased the bhp of my S3c to 240 from around 170, but it wasn't cheap - I traded it for a V8S
On a more serious note as you have a S4c you have an improved chassis and braking setup over the earlier V6 cars which is a good starting point.
I agree with Pete's comments and suggest that a first step for the car would be to check how it is performing now compared to what you should expect. Before upgrading engine components a more free flowing exhaust and a rolling road tune up may make a fair difference.
As TVR left the V6 engine fairly standard you could then look at any of the tweeks used for the Scorpios.
Good luck and welcome to the TVR world.

Thanks for your responses guys.
Point taken Peter re. driver training - constantly review and critique my driving style and believe you never stop learning! The grip levels on the S are most reminiscent of a Mk1 Escort Twin Cam I used to rally in the late 70's. My last car (sadly now gone) was an Impreza which had a lot more power than the S but the rest of the dynamics were up to handling it- just! Driver re-education will be priority when I've got the S running properly.
My first priority is to sort out a 'lumpy' idle and cold start hesitation. Second priority is to check the suspension - particularly the bushes, as the car seems to hop about more than I feel it should. The brakes are barely adequate and I want to give this some thought. Finally the engine - I'm not looking for a rocket ship but I feel that a modicom more oomph could be extracted to make the car more 'entertaining'.
Mark thanks for the welcome and yes I will probably get the car r/r tuned when I have sorted the fundamentals.
I'm not sure about the exhaust ( I assume you mean de-catting) as I don't know what effect this would have on the ecu or subsequent mot emission testing.
Any advice on any or all of the above - particularly any recommended specialists would be most welcome.
Btw please don't take any of the above as whinging I have been hankering after an S for years.
Thanks again for your comments.
Cheers
Graham
