First impressions driving an S

Last week I finaly got my registration and licenseplates...That means that at last I could drive the car. Since I put a 0 mls block in it I had to limit the revs....

BUT.....

What a blast!!!! I drove in and around Rotterdam on saterday (a.o the Maastunnel :-) :-) I was suprised about how quick and balanced it is.
Road was dry but squeeling all four tires doing a roundabout twice felt easy and controlable.

I like the way you really sit IN the car even with the top down. It's a tight sqeeze getting in and out but feels snug. Fortunaly I'm not a big guy. (1.80m 70kg)

I admit the car enticed me to floor her beyond the run-in bandwidth.... I really couldn't help myself.
Being used to a Triumph spitfire with a really loud exhaust I thought It would be hard to impress me because I was used to driving with a smile on my face.
This car really got me gigling like a girl.
Damn...the roar and the accelleration...Wauw!!!!

After little over a year of restaurationwork on it and no driving at all I was sort of...tvr-tired... and after starting the importprocedure didn't really feel like working on it.
That is over after last saterday's driving experience. The car really is worth all the trouble.

I still get a silly big grin on my face every time I drive mine, or even just start her up and hear that lovely throaty sound.

I dont find squeezing in a problem, as you say its nice and snug, but what I do find is that if I'm not careful getting in I end up with a big bruise on the right hand side of my butt from the seat mechanism (long legs you see and I'm a delicate little flower).

It seems the more I drive her the better she runs, just means I'm constantly putting petrol in it!

Congratulations Olav!!

Also try the Tomassen Tunnel at the Rotterdam harbor on the A15. Three lines wide + two shoulders so quite some volume to fill, release the throttle, put it down a gear or two and just go! Then when going out, look at your co-driver, and see who has got the biggest smile!!!

The weather is also getting better so enjoy!

I know what you mean, even though my TT-R is great to use everyday and it is fast (270 bhp remapped) and has no roof it still doesn't feel as raw and fun as the TVR used to.

Seriously, why are you selling it, you have a nice late S3 there? - you'll regret it!

Big Ian that used to frequent these parts moved to a TT when his S was written off. He was part of our "Ring party" last week and continually mentioned how he wish he still had his S, especially every time I started mine up!

Don't get me wrong, the TT is a great car - very capable, quicker than the S was too and very well built but you're right, it doesn't have that rumble of the TVR and it's not a seat of the pants drive and you don't sit as low in it.

Ideally, I'd like to have both.

I'm certain I'll get another S again some day.
