Electrical problems S2

Can someone give me a few pointers? dashboard lights, r/h tail light,r/h front sidelight, numberplate light, none of these work and the fuel gauge is a bit erratic. I suspect an earth but where are they on an S2? I can see one under the bonnet on the left, I`ve used the search on here to no avail.

I've got an S3 but asume the wiring is the same. The one on the left front is the main earth. There is the engine to chassis earth the other side and an earth inside the n/s wheel arch at the top.

However from what you describe I'd be checking out the connectors for the tail lights. Mine were grotty and caused bad earth symptoms and even caused the dipped beam to flash slightly with the indicators. I used some connectors and cable from an Escort which I soldered onto the TVR wiring and because the Ford wiring isn't as heavy as the TVR stuff the connectors sit properly onto the bulb holder.

Also check the 4 way connector under the steering column shroud. When that goes it can affect the dash instruments.
