Looking for (wo)manly boasting about who has made the longest trip (holiday, commute, travelling to a new life) in their S and any great anecdotes or mishaps met along the way.

This is partly inspiration for a drive down through France in the coming months or next year.

Does the noise and physicality detract from the holiday? Are you always worrying more about the car than which lass to try your woeful French pick-up lines on? How do the locals greet a relatively unknown sportscar?

Let's hear those shameful and funny stories counterpointed with learned reasoning on why long trips in an S are good/bad.

(PS. Any pictures of large-breasted girls riding in Tivs always welcome)

Toulouse to Canterbury in one day including an incident with a level crossing I hadnt seen and the resulting trip to Castorama to buy several metres of fence wire to hold the tail pipes back up or;

Around Andalousia in august including Cadiz, Granada etc. Seville plains at 50°+ eek
Didnt overheat despite my total paranoia....

Northampton to LeMans in one day last month, and I didn't cheat by going on the Portsmouth Ferry
I went via Dover/Calais, mileage was around 500

The S behaved admirably even though it p*ssed down the whole way, and infact the whole weekend!
My footwells were an inch deep in water, and my passenger had to hold an empty Pringles pot under the roof to catch the water so we didn't get wet smile

As I'm a woman with ample assets and a tiv and no man in my life (sorry dont have any pics) you needn't drive all the way to France to try out your chat up lines, thinking of moving down to Dorset so you can always have a go with me (errr, chatting up that is).

I also get paranoid about overheating or going on long trips with the tiv, but what the hell, I've got breakdown cover.

Glad to meet up for a hoon when you move down. Any particular area you're looking at? I'm in the north of Dorset near Sherborne.

Not sure what area, maybe somewhere near Poole, haven't really looked about to be honest but used to keep a Yacht there so know the area a little. Now I'm single again after 16 yrs (and Im still only 34) feel like a change - hence buying the TVR.

Oh and partners, wives etc needn't worry, I have enough hassle with the one I'm trying to get divorced from now without taking on someone elses husband or partner.

On another subject though, why are Tivs regarded mainly as mens cars? Get so many surprised looks and remarks when I mention I own one or get spotted zooming about in it.

Ello,

I guess the man-centric way of TVRs in the past has been their image, perpetuated by TVR themselves, as a macho car and their relative obscurity in the car world. Historically, unless you lived near a dealer I guess you'd rarely come across a TVR or know about them if you weren't already a petrolhead and, frankly, most women don't have their heads stuck in motoring magazines. Plus their reputation of unreliability can't be much of a draw to most women. Oh and the lack of power steering on most older models must put a fair proportion off the cars.

That's my take on it anyway.

Girls can handle Tivs though - if there's any reading this who are thinking about buying one, my girlfriend can quite easily handle my V8 and I'm happy for her to drive it - especially as she's a better driver than me!

Give us a shout if you move to Dorset. There's also quite a few owners in and around Bournemouth and Poole.

The lack of power steering doesn't put me off, I find you get a better feel for the car and it certainly gives the arm and bust muscles a work out.

I've always wanted a tiv, and would quite often stop at the dealership in Stratford when it was there (yonks ago). The tiv I've bought was up for sale a mile down the road at a little private garage and it just seemed to keeping begging me to stop and give her a spin up the lanes.

Well the rest is history, its not something my husband would have ever let me buy but now we're divorcing I dont regret a single penny I spend on it.

Good on you! The car doesn't give a crap who's giving it a thrashing so why should anyone else.

Wouldn't go as far as giving it a thrashing, not that I hang about either for a woman driver (hence points on my licence - naughty naughty).

Anyway, its calling to me to get off this damn laptop and give her a spin, so I'll catch you boys later.
