Gear lever position - adjustable?

Hi everyone,
Having some difficulty engaging reverse gear, I pulled out the vinyl gaiter to leave just the rubber gaiter beneath. It was then clear that the gear lever was fouling the hole in the transmission tunnel when selecting reverse, first, third and fifth gears. It looks like the gear lever needs to be further back by around half an inch or so. Before I tear out the transmission tunnel, can anyone tell me if I will be able to adjust the lever position??

The position of the gear lever is fixed. Unless your engine/gearbox assembly has moved forward (quite possible if the engine mounts have split like mine were and the gearbox mount is worn) then it could be just the gear lever assembly is loose on the gearbox. IIRC there are 3 Torx bolts holding the gearlever assembly on.
