clutch problem

Help please. The car has been stood in the garage for the last 6 weeks. started her up today pressed in the clutch, it seemed a little sticky with lack of use, so decided to pump the pedal a few times to get things moving,released the pedal went to press it down again would not budge. The pedal will not move even an inch.There is no drive so i think the clutch plate itself is disengaged from the flywheel, with the engine running i can select any gear and there is no drive. Would appreciate any ideas or advice. Who was it that said tvr,s are tempremental.

Sounds as if either the release mechanism or one of the hydraulic cylinders has seized. If there's pressure in the line, it's the master which has seized.

Hi

This happened to me at a set of traffic lights. It turned out to be the return spring in the master cylinder snapped in 2 places jamming the piston in the operated position. I ended up replacing the master cylinder.

Thanks to all for the advice, green v8s got it spot on. Jacked the car up removed the slave cylinder, it had seized solid. Gentle persuasion with the hammer and plenty of wd 40 soon freed it. May need a new one but after a good clean all seems to be working fine. ;D

I Know its not that on mineas the first time it happened I opened the bleed on the slave to check and there was no pressure in it, mine goes back wth a definate click.Only does it when its been stood a few weeks, once its beeen used a few times I can't get it to do it again, maybe something rusting up ?????

sorry didnt get back to you sooner, just enjoyed 2 weeks in france, no not with the s3, went for german engineering, bmw 330 i coupe, superb. Yes i did manage to resolve my clutch problem, it was i think seized due to rust. A good clean with wire wool and wd40 inside the slave cyl did the trick.
