Screws under the Doors & Kickplates

Hi Folks,

bought some Kickplates for the S-Series from Leven some weeks ago. Unfortunately they seem to be made for the S2-3. And therefore they are to long for the S1. No Problem so far, will have them shortened that bit.

But there´s still ONE screw on the lower side of each door, meaning that fu**ing screw which is corroded and makes the kickplate-built-in a little bit tricky since it scratches the kickplate. For what reason is the mentioned screw there ? as i hope, it holds the doors-interiour at its place, but i don´t know exactly.

Any one out there in good old TVR-Country who could supply me with a little Help ?

Just had a look at an old door ,problem is the winding mechanism has been removed, however the window frames dont appear to mount there so I would suggest its a mounting point for the winding mechanism.Although not a certainty ,I cant think of anything else that could mount there.

I replaced the bolt with a large washer and a counter sunk bolt with a lower profile ( got them from do it all) which cured the problem

I've had my doors apart recently, to fit new speakers. I've just got an empty hole on the underside of the drivers door - no sign of a screw going into it...


Have you got manual windows? My car has got electric windows, so maybe it could be related to the winding mechanism as clarnceboddiger says.

The window rail is fitted to the bottom of the door, but that uses two bolts, and they sit in a recess, so they hardly stick out. If your bolt is another one, it's probably used for the window winder mechanism. This could differ from car to car, as TVR seem to have used several types of winder mechanisms.

Hi to all and many thanks for your help.

we took the bolts out and they seem to be necessary for the complete window mechanisms correct position on an S1. sorry about my poor technical english but can´t explain that much better. however: damned bolts but necessary.

Another question ? where has the alternative parts list for the s-series has gone to ?

Had to change/renew the following parts and would like to let you know from what car they are.

- trunk opening including the catch
- rear registration light
