I was quoted £1500 from A plan!

aI am 29, but...
I have no experience at pwoerfull rear wheeled drives
I cannot offer any no claims as since leaving university 3 years ago i have only been a named driver on the mothers spare car, even though i use it hell of alot

How can i get expereice before owning a TVR S Series ?
Should i just get it as clasical and drive it at weekends? i dont fancy using it for work anyway and running it into the ground.

Any advice appreaciated as this is whats putting my of making the leap.

(I amhowever currently racing around in a tuscan on Xbox 360 forza 2, using a steering wheel and pedals, do you think A plan will consider this experience!?)

Try Hagerty Insurance 08700 420 220

I have no 'no claims' as I lost all 17yrs of them last year when I came off my ex's insurance and set up on my own and I have points on my licence. Hagerty insure on the value of your vehicle not anything else, I've just got a S3 and was getting quotes from £500 - £2000, Hagerty have insured me for £340 incs 12 months breakdown cover and thats keeping it on my drive not in a garage. If I'd got access to a garage it would have only been £150, bummer, but never mind, Oh I'm only 34 as well!

Paid 180 pounds with Hagerty on the V8s 3000 mile limit. Includes roadside assistance and recovery. Quote from Manning insurance was 290 pounds. So shop around.

You have the colour I want! I have jet to have a guided tour of an S series, my only contact been in a garage forcourt. Be great if you lived anywhere near the NEC and i could meet up to have you show us the car?
Do you ever go to the TVR club meet in Meridon?

Oh god not you as well, I've already been spotted by another PH'er this week and asked for a date

I'm 5 mins from Stratford, so yeah I suppose I could let you have a sniff round my car, cant let you drive it though for insurance reasons but more than happy to take you for a spin in it, just bring your ear plugs. Planning to get to S club on the 22nd but can arrange to meet up before then if you like, could probably twist another Ph'er whos got an S2 to bring his car over.

I am 27, got 4 years no claims but 8 non faults over last 4 years.

I have an S1, no need to be garaged, unlimited mileage and works out at £35 a month, thats with Elephant.

Having had a few performance cars, they are definately best for younger drivers.

Also worth trying RH Specialist Cars who I've gone with this year. Hagerty were £30 cheaper for me but wouldn't provide any cover at all while I was at the Nurburgring, whereas RH did! Although you may not be going to Da Ring it proves that it's worth working out what you want from the cover rather than just going with the cheapest e.g. will you want breakdown included, will you be going across the channel to Le Mans etc etc.....?

Scotchegg, just noticed you're in Birmingham - get yourself to S Club at Coventry in a couple of weeks, see/hear the cars and you'll forget all of the worries about paying for minor details like insurance

There is a reddish s3 for sale on pistonheads, its in stourbridge (cant be far from you), its a nice one and has been well looked after. The owner my be out in it tuesday 10th, see lyttleton (Hagley) meet, on general tvr forum, he may also go to sclub.

I did this with my V8 which I bought as a 29 year old last year. Insurance on a classic policy (4,500 miles) with Footman James came in at under £450 which seemed a bit steep but I'm hoping that with my first year under my belt I should be able to get that down next year.

I'd only had GTi's before but can't recall previous ownership/experience coming up when I spoke to them.....

Hagertys by far the best.

I'm just 26, and pay around the £200 mark for my modified Pre Cat Griff, with agreed value. But I have had TVRs since I was 21, which helped a lot.

just insured my v8s for £170 with hegerty next quote was £240 with classicline.
