new Tippex Dash Finish?

Have you seen the finish on the dash of this ?

Am I missing a new line of interior finishing ?

ie you finish your dash off, dont like it so tippex it back out again...

Is it really Tippex? might be brilliant white emulsion. Horrid, really horrid, you just wonder what they've done to the parts you cannot see.

I shouldn't laugh, a Blue Peter convert had got to mine and refinished the switch panel in beech effect fablon. That didn't look very nice and soon got changed.

Aha, the cheap alloy dash conversion. That's also a good idea for the guys performing a RHD -> LHD conversion. Paint some dials, pedals and a steering wheel on the left and you're done!!

Think I'll upgrade my car tonight, take the brush and install the sub woofer, the fog lights and maybe the side-pipes as well!

Despite what the car looks like,what gives people the right to slag off other peoples cars? It's very rude and makes the forum look bad. I am not a regular contributor to the site, mainly because of the attitudes on here, but i read the new topics daily. You might find that people will be more involved if they saw less of the comments above.

Its the fact that the garage selling this car says and I qoute "All of our vehicles are prepared to the highest possible standard. "
Its not a question of people taking the `P` out of someones P&J.
More the garage for saying this.
Also, I post on here sometimes but like a lot of people dont post on every item. I have also found that the people on this site to be on the whole extremely helpful. But dont understand your comments about `the problem with this site blah ` `attitudes on here `etc etc

Care to enlighten ?

Sorry to hear that, Roy.

In my experience of this forum, people give credit where credit is due - for example, when you posted those fabulous pictures of your V8S restoration.

This particular V8 is clearly being advertised by a dealer, and I think that anyone showing photos of such a shocking dash can expect a degree of criticism from the enthusiasts on this site... particularly when they show a close-up of the speedo surrounded by Dulux matt bianco!

We are all proud of our S series. No-one is depriving the seller of this (or any other) S to defend themselves on an open forum.

Come on Roy ... chill out a bit eh ? I am not into slagging other peoples car off either and had it not been a dealer I would have said nothing, but you cant ignore the fact that the dealer was making claims that were not borne out by these photos.

I would not set out to upset a fellow owner, but I am entitled to my opinion (as you are of course) and thats what I gave. You might notice on your daily visits that I make favourable comments on other owners cars too.

This is a great forum for true enthsiasts and I hope you continue to visit and contribute to it... but I also hope others can freely say what they think (within the law of course)and you can live with that.

I'm sure whoever did that dash regrets it, though in truth it wouldn't be a major issue to sort it, but not with the car at that price.

Roy I'm a little puzzled by your comments - I am relatively new to this site and feel like I know many of the contributors already, I have nothing but praise for everyone on here, they have all been very helpful even when I've asked dumb questions.

I have to agree. The big problem is really that this 'dealer' is trying to sell a potentially substandard car and make it sound great (and no tony the tiger voice was not made at this point), he deserves a bit of ribbing. I would be surprised, and disappointed, if this happened to any private owner on this site.

I agree, everyone is entitled to their opinion, this is mine. Regards help from other members, on the few items I have posted I have received no valuable information only a roasting for using capital letters in one of my comunications. I have no wish to offend any of the sites members, i will from time to time look on this site but not comment or reply as i have no wish to cause further offence.

you obviously feel quite strongly about this but everyone has a right to their view complementary or otherwise and I can’t remember ever seeing a negative comment on this forum towards an individuals car, I have seen lots of praise though to the hard work that people put into their vehicles. I personally find the site a mine of information and I find the attitudes of the contributors very helpful and welcoming.I respect your views aired in your post but have to say I totally disagree with them.
I also think that for anyone to put that photograph in an advert and include the lines
“A fine example of this very rare model” and
“All of our vehicles are prepared to the highest possible standard.”
is asking for a bit of a ribbing, and that’s all there getting really. I find that in a humourous thread such as this one started out as, it is the content of the posts that I laugh at,When I wrote ”Ozzy Osborne Home for the bewildered” it’s the phrase that I found funny and wanted to share, its not aimed as an actual insult to the person who did it.
Im sure that if a member posted that picture as something they had done, a few people would raise their eyebrows when looking at it, I think they might even then very diplomatically mention alternative finishes which they had considered when doing theirs, but I dont beleive for a minute that anyone on here would upset the persons feelings with a derogatory remark.
