Morning, When I took my fan belt off (a unipart branded item) it was 'really' difficult to get off (so much so I had to take the water pump pulley off to release it). So the thought of getting the new one back on (Quinton Hazel DBA 1200) didn't feel me with pleasure. Anyway, it went on fine, no problems at all? Now my engine has always been a tad noisy from the belt area, so I'm wondering, was this unipart the original belt and if not was it too tight which led to the waterpump failure? or am I fitting the wrong new belt (got about an inch of slack/movement), that has been recommended by the TVR parts guide. Wouldn't mind a few comments on how difficult your belt was to fit and what belts you fitted.
Last thing I want is the belt coming off on the way to S Club! Cheers guys.

I fitted a DBA1200 recently and it was a bugger to get over the pulley, but I managed OK and have some adjustment OK (its well away from the hoses as well)

K wink

I replaced the old fan belt last year because it was making an annoying noise (something to do with the S3C being hot under the bonnet I suspect) and the one I removed was the genuine TVR one. It says on it 13/12.5 x 1200 which our friendly local car bits shop said was 13 mm wide and 1200 circ (not sure if inside or outside but whatever the fanbelt convention is that is what the circ is) - so any belt that meets the above is Ok as long as the V angle is correct and that seems to be fairly standard. The pack for the one I now have on says Bosch "AVZ 13 x 1200 La" ; it is fine but I suspect that I may have had to help it on a bit.
Glad to see you are nearly finished Mark - how did you find the overall experience?
Jim

Thanks Jim for your post. Yes, nearly their, just got to add the coolant tomorrow. I was hoping I would get a reply to my other thread about the bottom hose metal tubing, hopfully tomorrow. Found it great fun doing the work myself. The most work i've done on any car before this was changing the plugs! Once the car is jacked up, you really have a loads of space to work. Hopefully get the plugs in and oil and filter changed tomorrow too, but that be pushing it! Must admit, will be nice to give the old girl a good waxing. Best regards, Mark

I had a 1175 fan belt on mine which was not long enough, causing the alternator to rub and wear a hole on the rocker box cover.
I changed it to a 1200 which went on a treat...gave me a bit of clearance when I tensioned and tightened the belt.

The alternator mounting bracket looks like a TVR codge to me. scratchchin

I had a lot of squeeling from my fan belt, but it turned out that one of the bolts of the bracket had sheered, causing "variable" adjustment. It's worth checking.
