I only use the V8 at weekends, but have been very surprised at just how good the economy can be.
The previous owner reckoned it could knock on the door of 30mpg driven sensibly, I thought he was joking but I reckon its not far off, and I don't always drive it, ahem, sensibly.
Other posts say that the V8 drinks it in traffic which I dare say is true but I can't comment.
You'll read elsewhere the V8 has better brakes, chassis and various other bits over the V6, however others say the V6 has more character.
I found a V8 at a good price with a great chassis (read about these elsewhere too, they dissolve, be careful) so I snapped it up.

The other issue is insurance, there's a few recent discussions on here about this, page back a few pages or use search and you'll find it.
I'm paying £157 a year but thats using it as a second car 3000 mile limit 7k agreed value 150 excess.
I have a crap driving record too.
I use Hagerty but there have been reasonable reports about others too.
I reckon you will pay quite a bit more using it as a daily drive.

i used mine as my main car for 18 months and it was fine, i have a V6 S2 which averages 26 mpg with a heavy foot but 32 on a 70-80 motorway run.
Either of them would be fine, but the V8 is generally a nicer car due to its chassis being wider. That said, what is your budget ?
If its under £7k then go for a V6, over then look at both. A V8 under 7K will be troublesome.
The engines are pretty bullet proof on the V6's, i have 135k miles on mine & it goes like stink.

hi thanks for all your great feedback , i'm going to see the v8 on tuesday for seven grand the car is on piston heads and was a club members last october , he done everything possible to the car and it looks amazing , the new owner is a great guy to deal with and has only done 1500 miles since ownership last october , thanks for all your info about leaving outside , and mpg , i live in the isle of man , and i'm very excited about owning a tvr , cheers robbie
