Bonnet Removal Question.

Will be taking the bonnet off tomorrow - and inevitably I have a question.....

I've looked at the hinges and they seem in pretty good nick (for a change...), I've also noted that if you take the bonnet off it's a pig to line back up.

Now my question is this, on the picture below, if I remove the nut (black arrow) and slide the bonnet off (red arrow), would this be easier and allow the bonnet to line up easier?



Seems to me that as there's a lock nut behind the 'bonnet tube' this should keep the right position.

Thoughts please.

Thats definitely the way to do it. I've done it a couple of times and the bonnet goes back in the same position, no alignment problems.

Aren't you doing the outriggers? If so then the body will be lifted/removed and you'll be replacing the mounts that the body sits on. Chances are that the body will sit slightly differently when refitted so in that case I wouldn't worry too much because chances are you'll have to realign it anyway.

I removed everything from my chassis - including all the fixings in the bonnet mount - and it was simple to reassemble and align.

I can Second that have done it numerous times, no probs getting bonnet back, just a two man job.
