Need more Boom, crackle and pop.

Having had a run out last night with a few other TVR owners, i have decided my standard exhaust set-up is undecently quiet and needs replacing with something a little more socially unacceptable. So my question is; what set-ups do you guys run/recommend? whats going to give me most decibels/£?

Furthermore, i hope to see your claims backed up with evidence at s-club.

Very good question!!! In my spitfire I have a big double barrel absolutely-not-done-heartpatient-finisher-off-er kind of exhaust. and I'm affraid My S exhaust will be too civilised. So please I'm very interested too

I had a stainless steel super sports exhaust on my S3 from R T Racing (www.rtracing.co.uk). Certainly woke up the neighbours, and popped on the over-run. The mechanic I used to use said it was the best sounding V6 he'd heard. I only sold it two weeks ago and miss it like mad!
The loudest I heard had to be Doddzes' - search the forum for pictures - absolutely mad!!

What benefit will a "socially unacceptable" exhaust note give you? The S left the factory with a quoted figure of 104db and current SVA regs are 98db so it isn't a quiet car anyway.

One advantage of the S is that it is a discreet classic looking car yet has a nice sound. When you gun it people look anyway so why make it sound like a chavmobile? Also make it louder and you'll annoy the neighbourhood and attract the attention of the plod.

Another thing - they are already borderline to get on a track day so a loud exhaust would rule out that possibility.

Obviously it is your choice but thought I'd stand up for the keeping it standard school of thought.

I had a custom job done by ACT, straight through, Centre exit V8 sized tail pipes, no baffles, no cats. Popped, banged, flamed and made small children cry. Very loud, louder than my Griff.

Here is it up to 3000rpm, and it got a lot louder after that!

Mine's got a straight thru' stainless steel racing number from Tower View. Even my Ferrari owning chums with their ridiculously expensive Tubi Systems reckon my 2.8 sounds the business. Fabulous in tunnels, pisses off the neighbours and sets off car alarms in multi-storey car parks. Pops and bangs like a real bastard on the over-run too. What more could you want (apart from a V8 of course!)?

I thought the point of a TVR is to stick 2 fingers up at the establishment.
I've spent half my life being a good quiet lad, putting up with everyone elses racket while being as quiet as a mouse myself.

WELL ITS PAYBACK TIME !

My V8S is loud as hell, it instantly sets of my blandmobiles car alarm as soon as I turn the key if I've forgot to turn it off, and I love it.

I show some consideration - I don't fire it up early in the morning or late at night, or leave it running on the drive.

The neighbours I speak to think its ace anyway - the rest have the odd loud party now and then anyway so sod em.
