S class motor insurance

Mines not due until sometime in October - but thought i'd get in now - save all the last minute bother.... After 7+ years of ownership, i've still not found anyone that will give me decent limited mileage cover over the summer (i'll only do about 2000 max), on a comprehensive basis, but then drop to tpft only over the winter when i lay the car up...

Can anyone else reccomend a decent Insurer/Broker? Can we get the S1 onto a classic policy yet? (never been able before) Whats with this "A Plan Insurance"? Are they any good? Over to you guys...

(ps - at present the cars on a "general" policy with Tesco Ins - £285.00 fully comp with a 150xs)

Just renewed mine with Hagerty due to previous insurer (Heritage/Norton) upping price and charging £10 admin fee on top (quote was £247 inc b/down, legal, admin fee)
I'm 38, TVR S3 2.9, Agreed value £4800, limited miles of 3000, wife on-policy (),garaged, no-claims or convictions etc.
Fully Comp = £167 inc £35 breakdown cover.
Nice guy on the phone and cover policy seems straight forward.
Used to ring-up and get reduced cover for laid-up period before but not sure will bother now at that price for full year comp cover.

I can vouch for Haggerty.
I did enquire about laying the car up and they said they won't offer a reduction, they are as low as they can go !
Note also being a member of thr TVR Car club got me over £20 off.
I am 40 (only just I'll have you know).
6 points, 3 accidents last 3 years 1 of which is still in dispute (other 2 recovered not at fault).
Haggerty quoted £157 with £150 excess.
Oh and thats for a V8S, 3000 mile limit.
I went for their Mondial Recovery offering which guarantees a flat bed transporter (no towing) for £50 which includes home start and european cover. I think its £35 without homestart & europe (they come together as a package).
Total paid inc recovery £207.

Just had a renewal quote from Haggerty on mine, a V8S and an S2 for less than £300 with only £50 excess, can't be bad!

Just got a quote from Norton/Heratige fully comp but not including breakdown cover £119. 3000 limited mileage.

Yes, I was worried about that with these. Obviously, I told Haggerty and they said it wouldn't affect my premium, so that's good.

I would second or third, whatever, Hagerty's. £220 agreed value on my Griff, with a 6000 mile limit. Just turned 26 last week, no points or convictions.

What is going on with all these 3000 mile limits on your insurance chaps? We are lucky enough to own these lovely cars which should and need to be driven and you guys are only doing 3000 a year? I don't understand. I would worry everytime I went out about going over my limit if I only had 3000, in fact I refused cover last year because it had a 5000 mile limit and was not happy unless I could get atleast a 6000 limit. I was getting put off from trying Hagerty after seeing this recurring 3000 mile limit but now I have seen that Chris has got a 6000 mile limit on his Griff I will give em a try.

I asked that very question of Hagerty when I took out my insurance - they said if you think you're going to go over no problem give them a call and they'll add 1000 miles (for an increase in premium).
They do various mileage options - well worth giving them a call, very easy to deal with.

Anyone made a claim with Hagerty?

In fact I'm going to start a thread on that now, watch this space.....

After looking at this thread I phoned Hagerty to renew my insurance.
Excellent people to deal with and at a very reasonable premium. Couldn't be more helpful and the gentleman also asked me to pass on his thanks to PH as it is obviously imroving his business.

i would agree... spoke to Phil at Hagerty and renewed my insurance... £167 inc breakdown..

RH are almost double that of classic line for me,and thats with less miles.Its down to not having a garage

If it were garaged it would be half the ungaraged quote
I.E £161 for 4000 miles and each trackday would be an extra £17

Just got a quote from JANE - says Hi to us S owners (I said I would name here as Phil keeps getting the BIG UP on Pistonheads!)
Got a cracking quote of £126 (150 excess)on a 1,000 mile policy, no breakdown cover or £154.70 with.
Next best quote was Classic line at £205 (1,500 mile policy, £250 excess)
worst RAC Classic £407.18!
