steamy rear window

is there any way to stop the rear window from getting really steamy apart from opening the windows and having it freezing cold

I've not tried it yet as my S is still off the road, but I'm going to try the bikers "RainX" stuff that they apply on the inside of their visors.

My mates a biker and he swears by it.

Rain X does help it, but unless you have a bone dry cockpit then it still builds up in the mornings etc.

Unfortunately the quickest way to clear it without wiping it is to drive with the windows down - Bit cold though !!!

You're not supposed to use rain-x on plastic stuff, it makes it go milky.

There's been long discussions on this subject on other forums and all have come back and said that they've had no issues.

I've used it on my rear screen for the last 18 months and have suffered no milkiness at all.

Maybe it's just some kinds of plastic then as a mate tried some on his plastic headlight lens and they went milky - doh.

I bought something called a 'moisture mate' a few weeks ago, (no sniggering at the back!)from a shop called 'Lakeland'.
It is mentioned in Steve Heath's book, but basically it is a tray of absorbant crystals suspended over a collection box. It cost about 4 quid and was the biggest version I could find.......
Anyway, I emptied about 3/4 pint of water from it the other day & now no more misted up instruments or rear window.
I can't praise these enough!! Hopefully this might sort out your rear window.
