If you don't like red hammerite don't look

Been a bit busy doing some painting on the S.Still got a fair bit to do though but i thought i better show somebody what ive done,cos no other bu66er will see it .I have to paint the rear of the nearside turret,both outriggers and replace the cable ties.
Then replace exhaust mounts.
Fit new master cylinder and servo.
Fit new headlights.
Fit new number plate lights.
Bleed the brakes and clutch.
Service the car
Clean and polish

P.S I.ve no garage and all work done with the car on axle stands, so being a fat it wast tight

Good work there... wish I had the patience and perseverance to do it all at once - I do bits so it never all looks good at the same time (like that Forth Road Bridge thingy in the pic)

Nice work pies.

Funnily enough I’ve also had my chassis painted this week- although I cheated and paid my local mechanic to do it for me.

£90 to have the few bits of rust ground back (last done about 2 years ago), the chassis steam cleaned, undercoated and top coated with QD90 Machine paint. They also gave the petrol tank a coat of undercoat and hammerite.

I supplied the paint so effectively all I was paying for was the labour and use of his lift but the price seemed OK to me especially given normal SE prices- would be interested to hear what the general consensus is.

Looked good before, looks really good now. I’ll post some pictures later

Ah, but I cheated! And all of these jobs are easier when you've got a two/four post lift, a couple of apprentices and four days to do the work...

I'll also be interested to see how well the paint holds up over the next 6 months or so- only then will I know how good their prep work actually was. At least you can be happy in the knowledge of a job well done- I already know from going under the car last night that I'm going to have to go back and try to put some more paint on the back of the outriggers.

I reckon we could have a good case for negotiating a bulk discount for red hammerite between us all we've probably now caused a world-wide shortage and they will be starting to stockpile the stuff for the unexplained surge in demand over the last 4-6 months
