MIL, Oil pressure and an odd noise..

Took the V8S round the block yesterday and have a few niggles to sort..
The MIL sometimes comes on when at idle. Never seen it before, other than when starting the car. Quick search here and it seems to be linked with low oil pressure, but accoring to the guage could be the case, at idle its reading about 10, though when under load runs at 50. Not using any more oil than usual, no leaks, so not sure whats going on. I had a new cam fitted a couple of thousand miles ago due to a couple of flat lobes which could have been caused by oil starvation at the top end.
2nd thing is a loud ticking from the rear end. I'm guessing its the fuel pump complaining about something. Can't hear it when moving or at idle unless I stand behind the car with the engine running, so it might have been like that a while, but I don't know. Primes and runs normally, no evidence of fuel starvation. Can't remember what the car was that I had this issue with before, but a loud ticking was usually a good sign that the pump was about to fail.
Bible hasn't surfaced after a recent house move and a search here hasn't revealed anything helpful. Any ideas folks?

10 is very low at idle IMO, mine is more than double that. What oil are you using, how does the pressure change during the heating cycle. At what rpm do you manage to hit the 50 mark.
You don't have to be loosing oil to have low pressure, just a lot of ware in the bearings. Alternatively the pressure relief valve may be slightly stuck open, which can lead to lower pressures. At any rate I would have it looked over.

Forget the oil, though was thoroughly serviced not too long ago. Topped up with reasonable Castrol bought when low on a long weekend to deepest Cornwall and couldn't get the viscosity I really wanted..
Pops up to about 25 with the slightest touch of the throttle and up to 50 at anything above 2K. Just drops alarmingly low at idle

Oil was changed by the garage when the cam was replaced in about Nov last year. Yesterday was the 1st day the car got really hot since then; its been run a fair bit, but that would have been the 1st time crawling through town in sun cracking the flagstones type weather. Other than not getting the oil I wanted, (Halfords in Penzance had a somewhat limited supply), I really can't remember what it was I ended up with.. I did splash out on Castrol rather than going for their own brand stuff, but the viscosity was 10 out on one of the numbers if I remember. Was literally all I could get.
Sounds possible.. Better get some decent oil and go for a quick blatt to check
