So you won't be blaming the tyres again.
I'm surprised the dampers were in such poor condition considering their age / mileage.

Fortunately avos are rebuildable and cheaply too .. they might even cover it under warranty even at 3 years as long as no damage was sustained, so your car will live again without too much expense 
Even though out of warranty, I will write to them anyway as it won't do any harm. In the meantime I've asked Austec to put on new, as it isn't too much more (bearing in mind labour costs and VAT) and I need my car as it is my daily driver.

Well the car is driving absolutely beautifully. All the handling issues seems to have gone - except those caused by the driver 
Although the 12,000 mile service @ Austec isn't cheap, you really can tell a huge difference - so it gets my
Doug - wouldn't mind discussing manifolds - although Austec welded mine, they say its only a temporary fix and I will need a new manifold soon-ish. If I remember correctly, you have the ACT SS one?
My S was never going to be a concourse car - it is my only car and gets used almost daily. I have a long list of cosmetic things to do (new back window, re-spray of boot, refurb of wheels, seat refurb, etc etc). These keep getting pushed back as more important things come along - which might not make the car look so pretty, but that's only important if I want to sell - which I DON'T!
