Where can I get........
Discussion
I`m looking to replace the filter on the air intake on my V8S. Can anybody tell me where to get the part? Can the existing one be cleaned? It seems to be very sticky inside as if some kind of gluey fluid has run down the air intake pipe! What causes this? Thanks in anticipation to your replies.
I cleaned mine yesterday with a pipercross filter kit I bought from halfords. It was extremely dirty but the cleaning stuff was pretty good and there's enough in the kit to do it again twice.
You'll need one of those halfords that sells performance bolt on stuff. They don't sell leopard skin seat covers any more

Ooo, I've just seen you have a v8s whereas my car is an s3. It's probably the same but mine is a fairly large foam thing with a metal inner cage and a pipercross badge on the front. If it's anything like that then that's the cleaning kit for you.
I didn't see any furry dice - I was inconsoleable as my heart was set on some leopard/zebra skin seat covers for my landrover.

I think it was 15 quid. You get some cleaner stuff that you spray on, soak in and then wash off with tap water - I suspect you could use petrol. You also get an aerosol of dirt retention fluid.
The filters are the same as the foam filters you get in motorcycle and for those you would clean them with petrol and use clean engine oil as a dirt retention fluid... I rather suspect that would work fine. The trick is to get the foam nicely damp with oil and not sodden otherwise the air won't get through.
Hope this helps.
