Steering Column Bracket and Sheath

Whilst preparing the car for the MOT, I noticed that the hazard button was knackered, so off to the breakers yard and obtained a replacement from a Mk 2 Fiesta (£12.50 from Blackbushe Motors). But upon fitting the new arm, it would not operate correctly as it kept fouling the shroud (I did know the shroud did not fit too well - another job on the list).

I decided to look into why the shroud did not fit and ultimately the indicator stalk would not operate correctly. After removing the steering wheel and the ignition barrel assembly (which was wedged in place by a bolt hammered in behind it), the bracket that holds the column in place was bent and the black sheath that the ignition barrel slides into was bent all over the place (this explains whey the whole lot moved when the steering lock was on).

The bracket can be replaced (www.tvrcarparts.com - £2.46), but has anyone had to obtain a replacement sheath before, are they pure TVR or a Ford part, where can I get one from?

Also, when I looked at the mounting points for the bracket, they appear to be aligned too far to the left to line up with the dashboard - is this normal?

Just in case any one needs this info in the future.

The black outer column (with the corrugated look) on the steering column is still available from www.tvrcarparts.com but it is about £80 plus VAT and delivery.

I am told though, that it is from a Ford Sierra, so eBay have these popping up now and then for about £10 - £15 plus delivery. I opted to pop into Blackbush Motors and pick one up from there (£20 including ignition barrel housing), but I couldn't get the lock out and managed to muller the housing, so I removed it to swap with mine, but the end is different to the one on the TVR, so I will need to get another one - be warned!!
