Speedo Problem

This is a strange one!

The car speedo is stuck on 99999(9) it wont click over to 100k. Any one got any ideas?

The odometer on my S3 sticks occassionally. As you're driving down the road, give the speedo a gentle tap with your mobile (or something similar...) and 9 times out of 10, bobs your uncle....... You mileage is recorded once more.....

Any tips for when the milometer is stuck and the speedo is doing a permanent salsa on the dashboard?

My speedo stopped working so I purchased a new transducer from TVRcarparts at about £78.
Fitted it last week and now the needle has some real salsa moments...like I'm doing 90mph when I'm in a carpark.
The odometer seems to have speeded up as well...probably trying to catch up the lost mileage I suppose.
Anyways..looks like it might be speedo removal next and send it off to Speedycables for calibration/damping.
David Geralds did say they could put their occilloscope on the transducer output and see what sort of signal it generates..
They of course will require money to do this...
The engine tick-over seems to have normalised now though..what joy...!

get it off to speedy cables, there not too expensive & always do a good job. Only problem is that they'll take 3 weeks to do it, so you'll be without speedo.

You may even notice it doesnt start without the speedo, so you have to stick a piece of wire into 2 of the 3 connection block sockets to loop the signal for the ecu.... take a guess until it starts, wont damage anything.
