Roof not fitting in place

Just wondering whether this is a common problem before I attack in some abstract manner...
When fitting the panels (a very infrequent occurence thankfully) the centre join area does not seem to want to drop into the correct position. The slots all go in right holes, but it required a push in the middle from another person for everything to move into the right place and finish the job.
The rear plastic was changed a few years ago after a break-in, so I'm wondering if the targa section got slightly deformed at the time?
