Skating...nearly an ex 'S' owner

Kent, Thursday morning, on way to Heathrow for appointments in Germany, and nearly lost the S for good!
Turned onto B road to motorway through next fresh deep snow on road.
Dropped speed to about fifteen,maximum twenty, when I saw a jacknifed lorry about 70 yards or so ahead. Touched brakes ...nothing. Tried to steer to side of road and bounce on opposire kerb,...nothing.
Just continued in a straightline at the same speed, with absolutely no control over the car at all
I was counting the cost of a new bonnet,wing,radiator etc
when only a couple of yards before I hit him,onr tyre suddenly gripped on something and I could steer enough to sail down the side of him with about an inch to spare!
Came to rest on opposite kerb.
.... heart started again!
10 minutes to U turn and back to salted roads.
Needless to say, Germany, minus 12 degrees...all roads salted and perfect!
