tvr Series 2 door mirror

Hi can anyone give me any advice just purchased my first tvr S2 very happy with it , but one small problem drivers door mirror is loose and wobbly i have had a look under the rubber gator and found that the ball and socket is worn ? what car do they come from or anyone know how to tighten them up to save losing it on the motorway

My early S3 has the same mirrirs I think and they were also wobbly when I got the car, I noticed that there were two small holes one fore and one aft of each mirror and the nearside mirror actually had screws in them, so I tightened those up and added new screws to the drivers side and they are now secure(ish).

On a longer term, I intend to replace them (i think they are from a Citroen CX25 (?)-not very common either... and are not made any more) with the "Thin type" which I believe are from a Mk2 Fiesta. I will let you know how I get on and will post pics if it is a good fix

By "Thin type" do you mean the square ones like mine?

If so, they're not Ford Fiesta (I don't know what they are, but Mk2 fiesta they ain't)

The Ford ones are Mk1 Fiesta or Mk2 Escort. Fitted them to mine and they work well but are very scruffy.
I now have a set of Rover Mini Cooper mirrors which look nicer but they're not fitted yet. Same thing fitted to the Metro IIRC.

Someone with a white S3 H plater who happened to be at Donnington Kit Car show had them on his car and they did look nice. Unfortunately I deleted the pic so can't post it.

The thin, square type are off of the TVR Tasmin, look at the pic om my profile, oh and mine are electric and not brilliant but they do a job.

Yes I know they are the same as the Tasmin - the question is, what were they originally - they are not Fiesta. Close but not the same.

I've got a feeling they are Citroen AX.

The thin ones that is.

Hi thanks Boyz for your help and advice about the mirrors, I will try securing with the screws as a temp but have a wander around a few breakers yards and look what car may fit and look nice

I have just removed some square chunky industrial mirrors from my S2 that were from a Tasmin.... fitted the tasmin well, but not the retro S.

I now have some chrome bullets, what do you think ?

.... oh bugger cant copy the picture over... any way of doing this without having to host it somewhere as it wont copy & paste ?????????????????????????
