Rubbers and Wipers

Does anyone know which car donated the wiper mechanism on the S1 ? I've heard people say a mini but mine seems to be different ! Instead of the tube and wheel box set up (as I think the Mini has ?), mine appears to have more modern rods with nylon clip on knuckle joints. These then clip onto the spindle which the wipers are then mounted to. The problem is that the splines are worn and so the passenger side wiper comes lose if it runs for more than five minutes ! The tubing that the spindles are mounted in also look like electrical conduit cut at a jaunty angle ! Is mine a one off or are others like that ? What do I need to install to make it better ? Anybody else come across this set up ?

Also my car seems not to have a rubber running across the doors to seal against the window, is that normal or has a previous owner decided to cast mine aside due to a stiff mechanism ?

The rubbers on top of the doors are missising from mine too. Its an early S1 (87). I just thought that they were missing an would get round them sometime. I did think about making some but havent had any luck finding some donor ones suitable.
Anybody got any idea where the crome trim comes from on these items too?

A company called Woolies do a whole range of trim including the bit you need , do a search on this forum for their website.
