Couple of q's....

morning folks,

Couple of questions, firstly, is 'fabsil' as good as renovo for hood waterproofing? I've used renovo in the past, but it's a bit expensive.

Also, does anyone know where I can get the shrouds that go inside the bonnet to protect the underside of the bonnet/lights. It's going to start getting mucky soon so don't want to spray crap all over the engine bay (which is lovely and shiny )

I always used Fabsil on my S and now the Chim. It works a treat and the water beads beautifully after treatment and lasts a long time. I'd treat it to a few fresh coats every 6 months and the car never leaked after that.

Cant help you with the shrouds other than make you some, but we need a good set to make moulds off.
I would love to get my hands on some indicator lenses, Im sure I could make them out of composite too.

I've been using Fabsil for 10+ years on my S2 and it's always worked very well, staying waterproof for a maximum of 18 months to 2 years (car garaged). The only other waterproofer I tried was AutoGlym Fabric Hood Protector, which wasn't as good as Fabsil.

Yep, another vote for fabsil here. Used Renovo in the past but the deluge at SCH this year which cut short my visit highlighted the need for something a bit more waterproof. Fabsil from Milletts did the trick and its now dry as a bone inside when it rains (apart from the hole in the back window but we won't talk about that)

does it 'blacken' the hood as well, I notice that mine is a little faded.

Dave, I noted on another thread that Kia indicator lenses fit perfectly, and literally a couple of groats for new ones....

Doesn't blacken the roof I'm afraid, I did use a permanent pen before and lots of rubbing straight afterwards to blend it in. Only works on small stains though.
So with these Kia lenses Mike does that mean that the issues of getting hold of replacements is solved now?

They look pretty good, IMO not as good as the originals. I'd bet they would look better if they were clear.
But at £4 who cares

I think the kia ones look much neater than the originals - they fit the recess properly and can be screwed on tight without cracking them.

just seen this thread. Is it the inner wheel arches you need? If so the can be purchased from TET mouldings (I saw them at SCH) (www.b-link.co.uk/tet/tet/contact.htm).
You may need to cut the existing ones back to fit. Let me know how you get on, I have been considering it for a while.
