Hi all, One of my electric windows now won''t go down, and after much testing, it''s the switch on the centre console that''s given up the ghost. Anyone know where/what car these are sourced from? cheers, Dave.

No idea what the switches are off but a couple of times I've had switches play up, I have fixed it by taking it apart and cleaning up the contacts. They are all fairly simple things. I have had problems with the windows that turned out to be caused by a short in the wiring where the loom passes between the body and the door, the loom had been trapped at some point. Symptoms were blown fuses and intermittant operation even when the fuses were OK. So it would be worth confirming the problem is in the switch, if you haven't already done it. On mine the switches pull out upwards i.e. you can get at them without taking the console off, in fact if you do take the console off its quite easy to pull the wiring off the back of the switches. If you do take the switches out, just be carefull when you disconnect them that the wires don't short, they are permanently live. Also make a note which connector goes where so you can put it back afterwards! Hope this helps, Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)

Thanks Peter, It's the switch that's gone, as I've swapped left for right and the problem transfers to the other window. I did take it apart last night to clean, but the "click" isnt the same on the down action, it seems like it's more wear than dirt - bit strange as it's the passenger side, I would have thought the drivers one would have worn out first. They must come from a mainstream car, just never seen any info on them. Dave.
