Suffering from a very dead heater fan - seized and is no more. From a previous posts I gather fan unit as a whole is from a Nova which I will try to source but has anybody had to replace their fan and how much of a mare is it as a task? Any guidance most gratefully received!

Cheers

I changed my fan last year; it's from a Vauxhall astra, if I remember right a mark 2. As for changing it without removing the dash, I would think that you may be able to do it but it will take you an age, along with lashings of knuckle skin. There are only 2 screws that hold the fan in but they are at the back of the heater box which is held in with 2 screws up into the fibreglass upper dash. I think I would have a go and if no good just remove the 2 screws at the rear of the centre consul and the 2 nuts behind the air vents, this will give you more room but without disconnecting the Speedo/loom air vent pipes etc. If all else fails take the dash out, it’s not that hard. Personally I think knowing what I no now, I'd just undo the Speedo cable and pull the dash out enough to do the job.

Hope this helps

Max,

Many thanks for advice. Happily hope won't need fan for a few weeks yet though! Good motoring.

Cheers
