205/55-15 vs 205/60-15 - How many have 55 profile?

I really am considering 205/55-15 tyres since I just cannot find any tyres suitable in 60 profile (Potenza's sold out everywhere including mytyres and other internet shops - at least in the V-rating). They all seem to be comfort tyres and not sport tyres in this profile.

How many people are running 55-profile?
Apart from 3% smaller radius, which presumably lowers the car even more - what at the real disadvantages.

I fitted 4 Toyo Proxes CF1s 205/60 VR15 about 6 weeks ago and am very happy with them indeed (I didnt wanna use 55s didnt think they would look right), really good traction, warm up nicely on the road and when they do break free its fairly progressive not a shocking brown trousers moment. They are quiet too, not horrible sqeelers. I dont know what it woulda been like on any other manufacturers rubber cos that is the first set I have put on and my old ones had gone kinda hard with age but it certainly feels much more planted on the road. Oh and I only paid 60 quid a corner all in.

Ride height difference is 5mm

I looked at many different types thrown up by a search on mytyres.co.uk including yoko's, avon's and bridgestones but from looking at the results on tyretest.com (linked from mytyres)the CF1's seemed to come out better than most others so my decision was based on that. I would have preferred the T1S pattern which seems quite popular for Chims/Griffs and Scoobies but again you get the problem that they are not available in 60 profile.

i have 55's keep a supply of exhaust clamps handy

I changed from 55's to 60's as I couldn't get onto my drive without a lot of scraping!
I think 60's look better as it keeps the car more original, as these would have been fitted from new

Totally agree after having to fix leaks in the exhaust most weekends on 55's after walloping it on speed bumps and just bottoming out on dips in the road, I'm now on 60's and haven't had the same problem at all. Just one small scrape so far.
Although IMO the car did look better on 55's.

do what i had to do and angle grind a chunk out of the pavement

And I'm sure the council wouldn't be too chuffed either

what about 225/55-15 and do they fit on the 7J rims?
