How do I get at the window mechanism?

How do I get the interior door card off so I can look at the window mechanism, which is rattling? Spent an annoying hour last Sunday trying to locate the nut behind the armrest with my fingers through the speaker and ashtray holes, but not really sure what I am feeling for. Is it a standard hex type or something else? And where exactly is it? Any info/tips gratefully received. Grrrr.

Your doing the right thing. On mine, i had two threaded bolts molded into the back of the armrest part of the door card. Only one of mine had a nut on tho.

It should be quite central on the door & you shouldnt need to go any further than your elbow into the speaker whole.

Have another go & take your time

I did this recently. The nut was a M7 hex on about 50mm of thread right next to the ashtray(broke it in the process!) Somebody mentioned after I had put it all back together that I should have used a wingnut instead.Bit late by then but makes sense.
