Boot Release Cable (S2)?

The boot release cable in my S2 is knackered, it has snapped twice at the lever end and I have tried to repair it, it is so stiff you cannot move the inner cable by hand or with pliers at all.
I have been trying to source a new one but have had no luck, I read a couple of posts saying Ford part number 6556720 was the right part, but apparently the cable is too short to reach the boot.
Does anyone know the correct cable? Is it from a Ford...Fiesta/Sierra?
Can anyone help?

I presume it is a Ford Sierra or Granada cable but not sure.

It might be easier to take the old one out and send it off to someone like Speedy Cables and get them to make you one to match.
