S - Turbo Technics

Sure its been done loads of times, but anyone know what is involved with putting a turbo technics engine into an S? Seriously thinking of getting another S2 when my car sells, and after a bit more grunt?

Cant really help, but give Turbo Technics a ring in Northampton. They will have data on all cars that have had it done in the past.

I would suspect you'll need alot more under bonnet airflow to get rid of the heat, but i dont see why it cant be done

I'm half way through putting a Turbo on my S2. I had to do a lot of phoning and reading to get the information required. I contacted Turbo Technics but I didn't get any real help from them as they no longer produce the twin turbo kit, plus their manifolds would not fit into the engine bay of the S2. I found a few engineering places that used to produce parts and race with this engine but now it seems to be more profitable to sell parts to the EVO’s , Scobby’s and the bolt-on Halfords gang.

The route I'm going down is a single turbo TE04 or Garrett. Replacing the ACU with one that can cope with a turbo, this also means you can get rid of the stupid Twin air flow sensors. Otherwise I would have to make a 2-1 pipe converter. If using Twin turbo then fine, one pipe into each turbo. I’m also fitting Water injection system.
The main problem I've been having is getting the manifolds made. I've heard that Stainless steel ones can vibrate themselves to bits.
When I spoke to Boosted1 (he is on this forum) he could get a cast iron set made for around £800 – one very useful person to speak too.

For better results low compression head or pistons, if leaving the engine compression at the current 9:1 you will have problems using more than 7psi boost.

One place I've been looking on is the Ford forum / Serria forum there is a lot of people that have fitted turbo’s to this engine.
