Right then how the heck do you adjust the handbrake when it's very conveniently tucked up in the transmission tunnel ?
Perhaps I should train a small mammal hamster/gerbil has anyone got any good tips for this one ?

On mine there is an adjuster on the offside of the diff cradle. Its like a little wheel that you can reach from underneath the car. I can probably find a picture if you need it.

Hi Ralph,

I have jacked the car up and found the adjuster but I just cant get my hands on it because the diff and prop shaft are in the way. Am I missing something I don't have huge hands so what's the best way to get to the adjusters ?

it is a real sod to get unless you have no bones in your arms then it is easy really
otherwise get the car up as much as you can and find the best position to attack it from

I had the car on blocks and I could just reach it by lying right underneath the car.

I had the smae problem until i realise you can access the adjuster by removing the tape holder box insert in the central arm rest by unscrewing the two screws at the back. lift up the arm rest / dash and you can prise out the tape box and there is the adjuster almost cms away! Whether turning it will make any difference tho is another matter...

If you are correct Jake (will try it out over the weekend) then this must be a top tip for anyone wanting to adjust their handbrake cable. It always amazes me how much knowledge is available on this forum.

Should have done a search on this forum it's already been mentioned in a previous thread. Although there is a question if this access is still available on an S3. Does anyone have experience of this and can you tell me where exactly the retaining screws are for the aforementioned console.
