Odometer not working.....
Discussion
Hello chaps,
I've noticed today that the odometer on my S3 has odometer has stopped working. The speedo is working okay though.....Before I try and rip the clock out of the dash, any suggestions? I guess that the speedo is an electronic type and the odometer is cable driven? Any advice / tips / guidance gratefully received.....
Cheers,
IanM

spedo and odometer are electric
you have no option but to remove it and have it rebuilt
taking it out is a horrible job
it takes 6 weeks to get it rebuilt !
it costs about £180
here speaks the voice of bitter experience
or you could just ignore the odometer until the spedo packs up as well

Mine sticks every 1000 miles and sometimes every 100....
I've found that 60mph and a tap on the speedo usually does the job. Sometimes I also need to drive over cateseyes in the middle of the road at the same time for the extra vibration - but only when on a straight bit of road with nothing coming the other way!

I love these cars!Haha,
I asked this question a couple of months ago with similar advice. The spirited driving/well placed whack combo worked for me too but only on the 100s. When I got to the 1000 it stuck again and has been there ever since.
It doesn't really bother me but wonder what effect it'll have if I ever want to sell it (I don't). It seems a very common problem so maybe quite a few mileages on S models are understated? Trouble is mine is low mileage (19,000 showing) and could do with a few more!

and gently tapping the surround. Don`t tap the glass, it`s 2mm thick and a replacement is hard to get.

with my (company) mobile phone and hey presto ! the odometer started working again. Yet another cheap fix thanks to this forum.
Keep up the good work chaps !!
