Strange one this. Since bringing my S2 from it's winter hibernation I have discovered the clock now only works when the engine is running! Completely dead when it is switched off. Wondered if anyone has any ideas. Read on other threads that removal is difficult so would like to solve the problem without having to take the dash to bits.

sounds like a duff earth, unless somehow the clock has managed to rewire itself to an ignition-controlled circuit instead of a premanent live.
my clock was running slow and loosing time while the car wasn't running. Recently i realised the battery wasn't charged properly and since recharging the clock has begun to work properly (I had to replace the alternator). Has your battery gone flat over the winter?

No, had it on trickle charge over the winter and been out for a couple of long runs since, so I think the battery is OK
Same on mine - I assumed a previous owner wired it that way to stop the battery discharging, even though it makes the clock pretty pointless
