Drop links (again?)

Has anyone fitted and tried Steve Heaths' drop links ? There was a thread a while back where a few said they were getting them - so any updates ?

I'm in the process of fitting mine (they've been a rather nice coffee table ornament for while). The old split pins were a swine to get out but a set of mole grips to compress the old bushes seemed to do the trick. I've a bit of painting to do on the chassis before fitting the new ones so keen to know if anyone has already fitted them to the S ?

Fitted them to mine. To be honest I can't say I've noticed any difference in handling, but my car is set up rather soft compared with many on here. Maybe with a stiffer set up the improvement would show.

Interesting. I've got Nitrons on mine, so I can see if there is a difference between soft/hard setup.

No one else ? Drop links for the S are the number 3 best seller on Steve Heath's site ...c'mon don't be shy

My drop links predate Steve's by a couple of years so I had to make my own from bits I found lying around, I expect the effect is the same. The turn-in is far more direct, and the body roll is reduced significantly. The effects will probably depend how knackered the rubbers are on the old links, but mine were in a pretty bad way. Basically the roll bar wasn't doing anything at all for the first few degrees of roll. Now with stiff springs, stiff dampers, rod end bearings and solid drop links it is extremely responsive and predictable.

As GV8S says, it depends on the overall setup and condition of all relevant parts. Fitting the links won't have a great effect if other areas are deficient. We had ours fitted (front and back) to our 4.0L Griff at the same time as new bushed were fitted, and new SP9000's. The end result is a big improvement but its not possible to say just how much each element contributed.

For the money, and given SH's depth of knowledge and experience, they must be worth a shot!

yep - i bought some too
do they make a difference ?
I'm not sure i have enough skill in setting up car suspension to tell,
engineering wise they have to be a better bet than the rubber efforts fitted as standard

just fitted mine - took opportunity to clean and POR15 anti-roll bar at same time.
Haven't driven it yet - got to be better than the original links I took off which look slightly bent!
