Last year I had some clutch problems which it turned out were largely linked to the hydraulics. Slave and master cylinders were both renewed.
At that time, the guys I use for most work said the clutch would also need replacing soon. True to their word crunching can now be felt going into most gears and first is a real bitch.
Being mechanically 'sympathetic' I am obviously giving the S a bit of a rest.
This is not good as the track day season is again upon us!
Can anyone recommend someone to fit out a replacement and does the engine realy neeed to come out to change it?
If it does, this will open a whole new can of upgrade worms as, if the existing unit has to come out, it will not be going back in the same form!

I had my gear box off last summer after I damaged the gear box seals and casing due to prop undulation due to worn universal joints. Did not need to removed the engine. Interesting point I replaced the clutch and I am having shifting trouble, second is difficult to engage as I change down and has crunched? Worn synchro? But I am finding third and fourth difficult changing down. Hydraulics?
could try autospares,got mine there for around £40 quid although it was three years ago. part number is AHK8889 THREE IN ONE CLUTCH KIT. their number is 0115 964 7600. think it was a bit tricky as the gear box is from a 2.8 and the engine 2.9 on my s3. might be a different kit for the s2 but probably the same. hope this helps

being new to the TVR game, please excuse the inanity of my question but does that mean that the clutch for an S3 will fit an S3c? are you aware of any modifications to the clutch of the S3c over that of the S3 clutch?
I suspect that the friction plates in my clutch are knackered after wearing through when my master cylinder failed as the were not held sufficiently apart by the slave cylinder alone to prevent grinding to the plate

no great expert on the s3c but i assume it has the same engine/gearbox as the s3. however always better checking as sometimes not everything is straight forward with the cars.if you havnt got one get a copy of the bible its a great help when you first start
