I added to the thread on the Midlands forum. Weather was great yesterday but it's raining today. Several locals have said they're going, but I guess it depends on the weather. I intend to go for a while, but weather will determine transport.

Second Tuesday of the month sees a large number of cars and bikes go to the pub (sort of between Leicester and Melton). The warmer months see several hundred vehicles there (for example, last September my son counted 47 Lotus 7 types, more than 20 TVRs, several Rocket 3's etc), filling the cricket field and sometimes an overspill field. There are often vintage cars and bikes, American vehicles, in fact something likely to be of interest to everyone.

where abouts are you then Dave?

i'm in central leicester at the mo, moving to south leicester in a few months.

good description of Ashby Folville by the way, thats just what i was about to say!
Never been there yet, although a sad & lonely sunbeam alpine driver i share an office with has tried to drag me along loads of times, he even took digi-cam photo's of other TVR's there last year to convince me it was a pretty sound meeting!

This is weird, I usually go along with an Alpine (and Husky and most parts of a Tiger)driver...

I'm just north, in Birtsall. It's very much worth going to, it's just a bit early in the year at the moment. A tip for the summer is try and get there for 18.30, as by then the first filed is likely to be full! The streets are packed with bikes. One day we even saw 2 Bugatti's (not well up on them but they looked like Type 52 racing cars).

Hi Richard, there were about 200 people there tonight, a dozen or so vintage cars (and a bus), some bikes etc. There was also a black Alpine, so the May event should be worth going to.

Hi Dave,

the black sunbeam, did it have a sad looking individual with a bit of token family bieng dragged along for 'the fun of it'?

thought so, thats steve who i work with, he was saying they were turning people away from the field because of weather. hopefully get some sunshine for the next one & i'll see you there?

Birstall? hmm, I work just near thorn lighting down the road.

Hi Rich, yes the black Alpine had a family in it and flashed me as we passed (with his lights you understand!). I think I've spoken to him before last year as I think our Alpine friends know each other.

You only work about 3 miles away from me. Longers and I have had a vague plan to meet up for a drink ever since the Rurland Rumble, but each has had some problems with the car and I've not been very available due to a strange job. Having said that, perhaps we could all arrange to meet up somewhere (all others welcome of course)? Ian arranged the Rutland Rumble in early January which was thorouhjly enjoyable. Dave

My only problem with the car has been finding the time to get in the thing!!

See the "kettering meets" thread in the main TVR pages - with a bit of luck Rutland Rumble 2 could be rumbling your way soon.....

Hi all, I've just got back from Ashby Folville tonight. If you've never been and live nearbye you HAVE to go. Tonight I saw the first Ferrari California in the country there. 09 plate and White, looked amazing. There were 5 Nissan GTRs there ( the new skyline) loads of TVRs, Lotus, Porsche, Ford GT, Caterhams, Cobra replicas, a Dino, Renault 5 GT2, Integrales, plenty of American cars new and old, a Nissan Micra with a big turbo engine!!!!
This was a NORMAL night there. 2nd Tuesday of the month when it's dry.
I used to take my Lotus 340r there, thought I'd be the only one but was 'disappointed' to find 3 others.
There are also at least 500 bikes there too from really old to the newest ones out. Some with back tires about 2ft wide!!!
If you like cars you HAVE to go!!!!!!!!!!
