I hope someone maybe able to shed some light on this one. The top mounting bolt on the passenger door of my S3 appears to have sheered in two, hence the door is loose at the top. Has anyone got any ideas as to how I might go about fixing this (professionally or otherwise)? Also if this has happened to anyone else, do you have an idea of the costs involved to fix it? Shame because the car was running like a dream all weekend !

I was talking to a chap at a bodyshop last week about how to fix sagging doors on the S series. To do it properly he cuts a hole in the bulkhead to get to the hinge mounts! Bit of a messy job by all accounts...

I've been told I need to replace the bolt that holds the door in place - any ideas on where best to get one or is this a TVR only part? I've got someone to do the work, but I need to get the parts myself (keeps the costs down !).

parts list shows that Adrian Venn at Exactly TVR can supply S2 10mm dia and states a modest cost?? Dont buy the BOLT from TVR, they sold me bonnet hinges once, Total rip off, got a few sets made in stainless for nothing If its just the bolt(have you seen picture of hinge layout) take it out and find a local machine shop or the like. Thanks for the advice ! Lee - how much would it cost to fix it? I've had some advice from TVR and they can supply the bolt for about £1.50 - the only problem is if it's damaged the nylon thread the bolt sits in, that's set in the fibreglass and will need to be re-set. Does this sound right? Thanks again.

Sounds sort of right, the nut in the fibreglass is brass and the bolts (stainless and correct thread portion unlike original that binds into nylon bush!) / nylon bushes I have in stock.I cannot remember where the picture is I posted on the hinge layout but if you need it give me a shout and I will send it.Cost?.......mail me direct (will not break the bank!)
