superflex anti roll bar bushes

Confused as usual!! The superflex site lists 3 different ARB bushes for the S;
SPF0765/26 26mm Front Anti Roll Bar to Chassis Bush 'S2' 1 of 2 £8.08
SPF0765/24 24mm Front Anti Roll Bar to Chassis Bush 'S1' 1 of 2 £8.08
SPF1004/22 22mm Front Anti Roll Bar to Chassis Bush S V8 1 of 2 £5.26

My S2 has got a 22mm dia bar so do I go for the V8S bush, even though the 'SPF' bit is different and therefore possibly some of the other dimensions??

They all are the same Ford ARB fitting. The ARB/chassis bracket is the same one (from a Sierra amongst others) in all cases so just pick the bush which matches the diameter of your bar. WRONG!

OOPS! Edit required!! I have just checked outside on the V8S with 22mm ARB. It does in fact have a different, smaller bracket than the V6 S with 26mm ARB. The V6 S bracket is deffo Sierra. Not sure about the V8 one though. Maybe you need to talk to S.flex. Also, I bought my S.flex bushes through Tower View and they seemed to know what they are talking about, unlike me on this occasion.

Hi again. Just done some more checking, measuring up a V8S and an S3 and looking at bits of old Sierra & Cossie!

If you have the SPF0765 fitting, the ARB bracket has holes approx 80mm apart. (This is Sierra not Cossie)

If you have the SPF1004 fitting, the ARB bracket has holes approx 72mm apart. (This is Ford Capri, maybe!)

So who knows what they used on the S1.5??

Yes, for the 22mm bar you need the 22mm bush.

Cheers JW, My holes are 72mm apart so the SPF1004 V8S bushes look like the correct ones, I'll email superflex to see if they can give me a spec sheet with all the dimensions. Nothing is ever easy with these Tivs!!

Listen wise ass, he needs to know which bracket he's got so that he gets the right bush to fit the bracket as well as the bar diameter.

For what it's worth, I investigated the amount of flex in the ARB mounting bushes in the V8S and the amount of flex was negligeable. I didn't really believe it so I modified the mounting bracked to completely remove all flex in the bush (metal on metal) and it made no difference at all that I could tell.

My conclusion is that the chassis mounting bushes are not worth replacing unless they are knackered. Concentrate on the drop links, which are as floppy as anything by comparision.

Well that's what you get for trying to be helpful. Only one bush was 22mm int. dia. and the external dia of the bush/int dia of the bracket is easy to determine. It may even have been a non-standard bracket but the bolt spacing, oh whatever, lol

JR, well I was trying to be helpful too, and your apparent sarcasm did not go down too well with me, given that I have been on my back under cars to help out a fellow PHer. The bolt spacing was relevant because it was an easy way to tell which bracket he had. I was not about to go unbolting ARB's to measure internal dimensions unless really necessary.

Anyway, looks like he is sorted out now which is the main thing.
