Too much throttle stifles power...??
Discussion
Took the TVR out this morning, having got it nicely warmed through I pulled up at some lights alongside a primrose yellow Crossfire. I don't usually seek eye contact in these situations but the smiling young chap within this yellow eyesore prompted me to grin back...
The road ahead was about 4 miles of largely empty, sweeping dual carriageway....and there was something about his smile that said..."Grandad, your gonna' be staring at my exhaust pipes all the way..."
Now why is it that I couldn't ignore him....
Why is it that my thoughts could not return to gardening...my pipe...my slippers...??
The lights changed..I hit the throttle/clutch just right(lucky)...a short tyre squeal and away like a slingshot... some nifty gear changes and he was gone....or so I thought. He matched my take off and just sat in my blind spot....I knew he was somewhere
as that turbine like sound was not emanating from my bonnet...we slowed down for the last roundabout before the fast road.
Out of the roundabout and away, I wuz going for it...4500rpm in third...I thought to myself...'read that badge matey boy....
Alas to no avail..
..he came by me like shite off the proverbial shovel...easing back on my throttle I experienced one heck of a surge in power which brought me past him but I suspect he also had eased off. He tailed me all the way to the next set of lights whereupon we sat grinning like the fools that we were.
Anyways...why is my power output stifled by too much throttle...does it need a coat of looking at...?
Any thoughts chaps
PS Commiserations to GI...hope it's not all bad news mate. I do occasionally go through a Ford myself...much care in future.
