Had my V8S for a couple of months now and over the weekend was indulging in a little reading and noticed that Mr heath said the V8S should normally sit around the 70-80c mark on normal running - mine constantly sits at around 90c and then the fan cuts in as it hits 100c ( I assume that's the temp of the line before the red section).
Although the car hasn't overheated it is causing me some concern - so it this the norm for other V8S owners or do I need to start fault finding ?

Fans on a little above normal running temperature sounds right but those temperatures are a little on the high side - I'd suspect the temp gauge is reading a bit high. Nothing to worry about unless (a) it suddenly changes or (b) you get other cooling system related symptoms like oil/water contamination/loss, boiling over and so on.

Cheers,
Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)

PS if it sits at 90 in this weather you must be in a traffic jam!

I think mine runs a little warmer than the Bible says at 80+ degrees. But I'm sure the fans come on as indicated in the good book which if I remember correctly is 92 degrees (dictated by the otter switch, which on my car is in the horizontal pipe just behind the rad, which has the temp stamped on the side). There are different ratings for these switches so it might be worth checking yours.

Tony,

Mine behaves like yours. It had a new stat, otter switch and rad recore just after I got it. It appears just to be the gauge reading a bit high and I've not had any problems.
