Got a new car...sort of

(Just recently found this web-site - superb)
Well it feels like I’ve got a new car…
An impending house extension finally got me around to selling the V8S. So I contacted a local dealer to look it over and ended up spending a fair few quid to get it MOTed, get it serviced, waxoyl the chassis (thankfully in good condition) and quite a few other things. Take it out for a few long drives to say goodbye and you’ve guessed it….decided I don’t want to sell it after all. What else could I possibly get that would be such fun for the money. So I’ve now got rid of my other car and I’m using the TVR as my everyday car again. I’d forgotten how absolutely fantastic it is, even in winter.
The history is I’ve actually owned the car for 10 years but after getting a company Impreza turbo it became the family 3rd car and so not much used. With a growing family I’ve been going to sell it for the last 7 years (!) but never managed to make myself do it. Can’t believe I’ve had it mostly in the garage all that time. Anyway, making up for lost time now.
Still need to get some new carpets and a few other things. Now how do I tell the wife that the new bathroom will have to wait……

Firstly welcome Simon, you will find we are a friendly bunch and most, not me, are very knowledgable. Ive had my V8S for just over two years and must say I love it, also a third car and I also will never sell it. Have a look at teh thread at the top about SCH4 should be a great day and look forward to seeing you there? Nearly 90 cars last year, will give you a chance to look over some other cars and steal ideas for improvements and where best to get them done.
Look forward to seeing your car at the meet

Hi Mike,
thanks for the welcome. SCH4 looks a great idea but may have to work hard to get it past the committee!
Glad you like your V8S. I'm currently experiencing those new car feelings again, have been out several times this week just for a drive going nowhere in particular.
Had to smile reading the other forums as there seems a lot of doom and gloom on TVRs re reliability etc. I have to say mine has been THE most reliable car I've had in recent years. Always starts first time even after not being driven for a while and only ever minor niggles (I've found one now which I'll post on a different thread). In that time I've been carted back by the AA in both a Renault and an expensive Audi. Heyho.
Mind you it's infectious looking at all those shiny new models in the classifieds. Maybe one day.
