New tyres for S3c

I currently own a 1991 S3c which is requiring a new set of tyres. The recommended Bridgestone RE 71''s don''t seem to be widely available. Can anyone suggest an alternative or better tyre (especially in the wet!)? Simon Midgley.

Simon, Bridgestone RE71s don't conform to the latest construction regs, so they're no longer available in the UK (although some tyre dealers may have a few stashed away). See the discussion topic "55 PROFILE 'V' 60 PROFILE TYRES". Roy.
