Fuel gauges - are they all completely random?
Discussion
Has anyone else experienced a fuel guage that fluctuates massively between showing no petrol to the actual petrol level whilst running ? It occasionally settles down when travelling at a constant speed, but then will start to flick again for no aparent reason. Any ideas ?
It''s a little frustrating as I am trying to figure out the average fuel consumption of my S3 - I''m getting between 25-30mpg at the moment (I think !!).
quote:They all do that. Turn left and the guage goes down, turn right and it will go up. It's just a big empty tank with a float at one end. You can't use a guage to work out fuel consumption! Top up the tank, use most of it, then compare the amount it takes to refill against the miles you have covered. Roy Edited by Roy C on Monday 13th August 09:51
