Is there a market for second hand shocks/springs?

I have just upgraded my existing (fronts and rears) AVO Adjustable Shocks/Springs for new Shiny Nickel Plated Gaz Units having won the fronts at SCH3

As a result I have a full set (4nr) of AVO adjustable Shocks/Springs that are now not required.

Cheers

MATT - they are adjustable for height and damping. 4 years (16,000 miles) old from a 1992 V8S. Front Shocks/Springs are dirty but in servicable condition. Rear springs are ok, but Shocks could do with a refurb as the O/S/R bump stop has perished. I believe they can be refurbished by AVO for approx £30/each. I only changed all round as I won a set of Gaz Nickel Plated fronts at SCH3 (purchased matching rears from 'Gazman').

CHRIS - I have never sold on ebay.....not too sure how easy it is. Would prefer to sell to a fellow PH'der if I can?

Cheers

So how much then? wouldnt know how much theyd be worth meself (obviously i have an idea how much i'd pay).

Are they compatible with all S's? Only i have an early S1 that i believe has slightly different trailing arms to later models.

The reconditioning price isnt too bad. It makes you wounder if we should plot a recon into servicing schedule every couple of years.

They were pretty cheap when new, and obviously worth less second hand. If they've been reconditioned you might get £40 per damper, if not you would count yourself lucky to get £10. In other words they are almost worthless in their current state. You could always put them on ebay marked as TVR dampers and see how many fools there are out there.

I have experience of advertising avo dampers on ebay .. I had a set of nearly new dampers on there with springs for a chimaera (owner had avos then traded up to nitrons, dampers had less than 1000 miles on them) and the whole set fetched 70 quid, boxed with almsot the full 2 year guarantee. They looked just like new.

Like peter says, in their current state on that basis they don't have any real market value

Interesting thread.

I've just spent 30mins searching for details of GAZ or AVOs for my S1..

Any preferences between AVO PG-718 and the GAZ GP8-2286??

I wouldn't bother with springs for the old shocks unless they they are Avo or similar with 9" springs.
I have the correct springs fitted to my Gaz shocks and the car has done about 500 miles since fitting, they are the latest nickel plated shocks as well.
PM me for a deal or watch on Ebay.
