Have a look around in loot, auto trader, a S1 would be a bit cheaper, if I were you I’d try getting around £5k together that should get a reasonable one. HPI recorded cars are cheaper, they have often been repaired, a lot of the work would be similar to restoration work and there are a lot of restored vehicles on the road. I got mine through exchange and mart, but viewed a few and some of the more expensive ones were in a lot worse condition than the cheap ones.

Worthy I have a S1 for sale that you could have for 4k, I have owned it for 6yrs and used it daily for the first 3yrs. Never let me down and thousands spend over that time. I bought a chim about a year ago and now have to make some space so the S1 has to go. It's met. grey, grey int. with red piping, black hood. New AVO shock all round, waxoyled every year. Hoods a bit scruffy but thats down to use. If you have a email address I can send some pics to give you an idea.

There are cars about for not a huge amount of cash.. the best bet is to buy private, not from a dealer who has to make a profit on the car.. of course, you have to know what you are looking at to avoud being stitched up. I'd recommend getting an S1.5 (S1 with 2.9 motor) as you can run unleaded etc and have a generally better engine, but without the extra cost of the "2". I recently bought mine with 38000 on the clock, good service history, A1 condition all round for £4.5 and have had 100% trouble free motoring. I hasten to add that the seller wanted a lot more money (7k), but if they want/need to sell then you can get a bargain (which you are unlikely to acheive from a garage/dealership).

I bought my S2 6 months ago & love it (apart from a bit more power would be good). This months new TRVCC mag has a nice S2 for £5K in it, he may take an offer. Or I saw a damaged S2 in the mag a couple weeks back for £3k - just needed new nose/bonnet and lights etc, structure looked fine. Let me know if you want more info & i'll dig them out. GB
