just venting my frustration here ......
had my rad recored etc
fitted it back to the car with a nice big pacet fan, silicone hoses powder coated swirl pot and pipes ,new otter switch ,etc
ran the car up to temp all perfect
then noticed a small weep under preasure and had to take the blo"*dy thing out again
off to the rad shop in the morning to jump up and down
looks like they overhauled it but only put it on preasure test for a minute and then gave it back to me as done
most anoying
rant over

oh yes the work quality problem !
after 10 yrs of frustration as a mechanical engineer I transfered to the construction industry only to find there were even more monkeys at work - i'm starting to feel like victor meldrew despite being 35yrs old
the rad shop found that lower inlet pipe had a crack where it met the rad tank - quite how they didn't spot this when they claimed to have dunked it in a bath of water and put it under 15psi of air preasure is beyond me but at least they apologised this morning resoldered the pipe there and then and gave me a new bleed valve as compensation
pity i had to cut the pacet quick mounts off as they are single use only - £20 down the drain - arse

Can't you bill them for it?

Best to mount the fan properly anyway, mounting it onto the matrix is not a good idea in the long run.

now i used to think that quick mounts were a bad idea as well
stress on the core and all that
i've changed my mind having used them at least 30 times and never had a rad fail
speaking to numerous other people over the years i've never had any one else tell me they've had a failure either
I agree totally that they shouldn't work but it seems they do
never tried them on an ali rad though so can't pass an opinion on that
as for charging them - yep - i could charge the rad shop but as they are the only one for 50 miles i don't want to piss them off incase i ever need work done in a hurry and they remember me
at least they feel guilty at the moment and might help me out in the future if i need a favour
