we tried to replace the exhaust gasket today but we couldnt get the nuts to shift my mate said he is going to heat the nuts with a torch to help them shift. any ideas, gary

Are you trying to remove the manifolds, if so give the bolts a good soaking in WD40, it helps.

They'll probably still break, though... sorry but I have to do mine and I just KNOW at least one will... then its enginy-outy time...

I have just done one side of mine. Soaked the bolts in WD for a week before and they all came out. Looking front to back, I did the right hand side, and the fathest bottom bolt was the hardest, because you can't get to it.
Stay positive though, it can work.....

I replaced the mild steel manifolds with stainless ones on an S2 I once owned. Because the mild steel manifolds were shot I was able to cut the tubes off at the flanges. Even so removing the bolts using WD40 and plenty of heat to break the corrosion was an absolute pig of a job. I think the bolts had not been removed since the car was built - 12 years. I used a selection of ring spanners, sockets, mole grips. When you get a bolt turning and it tightens up rotate back and forwards to get through the corrosion, if you over do it then the bolt shears - one did on mine but once the flange came off there was enough to get the grips on. Got them out in the end. If new bolts are need then use the standard high tensile rather than stainless bolts. Good luck.

One of mine broke taking it off yesterday. Lots of drill bits, tap and die test and three hours later all OK !!

Tried and tried to remove my manifolds recently but would not budge even with a good soaking of WD 40 it is now with my mechanic with the cylinder heads off !!!!
