If of interest, I seem to have fixed the delay in the ignition warning light going off by wiring a 100 Ohm 3W resistor from the alternator R or warning light terminal to the green ignition power wire feeding the flasher/hazard unit on the steering column. Now when starting the ignition light goes off after about a second or two.

Normally I would not have bothered but have fitted power steering (scobby Impreza and Astra pump) and need to use the power output from the alternator warning light terminal to signal the pump on and didn’t want to wait till I had driven a mile down the road before I had any steering smile

Thanks for the info.
It’s always slightly irked me that ign light doesn’t go out until the revs go to about 1600 or so.
I’ll add it to my list of things to do!
Was it any particular type of 100 ohm 3 W resistor that you used? (Showing my ignorance of all things electrical).

These ones on Amazon. £6 for 25 so you will plenty of spares. I can’t paste the link yet so search using this description:-

sourcing map 20Pcs 100 Ohm Resistor, 3W 5% Tolerance Metal Oxide Film Resistors, Lead, Flame Proof for DIY Electronic Projects and Experiments.

My car was even worse and no matter how I reved it the light would not go off until I had driven for a while.
